SIMCO Technologies Expands UAE Presence

SIMCO Technologies Inc. Expands UAE Presence by Establishing Office in Dubai to Offer its Durability Engineering Services

January 23rd 2017, SIMCO Technologies Inc. is proud to announce the establishment of its office in Dubai, UAE. SIMCO Technologies Inc. – Dubai Branch, (referred to as SIMCO Middle East), was established to better serve its growing Middle East customer base and meet the unique infrastructure durability, and service-life needs of the Middle East market.

The Middle East has a very diverse inventory of concrete infrastructure, and one of the most aggressive natural environments in the world. As a result, owners, designers, and builders of infrastructure are faced with major durability challenges including structures deteriorating much earlier than expected.

“A change in design paradigm is needed if real improvements to service life are to be achieved”, says
Dr. Jacques Marchand, President of SIMCO, and internationally-recognized durability-engineering expert. “Without a structured service-life oriented approach, owners of civil infrastructure run significant risks of rapid, unforeseen degradation of their assets. SIMCO’s durability experts can help infrastructure owners make the most informed decisions regarding maintenance and repair options that will impact the service life of structures and the overall lifecycle investment in these solutions.

For existing structures, SIMCO provides a comprehensive range of condition assessment services as well as service-life analyses. SIMCO utilizes the data gathered and analyzed to provide repair solutions that help owners and managers prioritize interventions and select cost-effective maintenance and repair alternatives that ensure an optimum service life.

For new structures, SIMCO can assist as early as the pre-project or preliminary design phase, incorporating durability design into technical specifications to meet specific service-life requirements. For the durability design of new structures or to help extend the service life of existing structures, SIMCO uses STADIUM®, the only advanced numerical modeling tool of its kind in the industry. STADIUM® ME is a specialized version that was developed for the unique environment of the Middle East. With the use of its STADIUM® ME service-life modeling tool, SIMCO’s durability experts can help owners, engineers, and contractors to accurately predict the service life of any concrete structure exposed to seawater, sulfate-bearing soils and extremely hot temperatures such as those found in the Middle East.

SIMCO ME, and its clients benefit from the existing partnership between SIMCO Technologies and Structural Group, helping to develop repair options. STRUCTURAL is the Dubai-based contracting arm of Structural Group, the leading concrete infrastructure repair solutions company within the United States, and the Middle East. This strategic partnership allows SIMCO ME to integrate comprehensive costs and constructability considerations into its repair options. Where appropriate, owners and engineers can gain turnkey repair solutions from initial inspection through design and final repair through this partnership.

“We are very excited about the official opening of our Dubai Office”, says Faiz Mohammed Khan, Technical Director of SIMCO Middle East, “with this local presence, we will be able to better assist our clients, partners and associates in the region to more effectively address durability-design issues and challenges, which in turn, will greatly help in ensuring the safety and sustainability of infrastructure assets in the Middle East market”, he continued to say.

SIMCO’s Mission is to Make New and Existing Structures Stronger and Last Longer.
